We have 300 days -- at most -- to prepare before my stalker is released from jail. I’m raising funds to rebuild safety and stability for my 11-year-old disabled son, Hugo, and me.
Over the past two years, we’ve endured experiences no family should ever face—stalking, harassment, retaliation, unsafe housing conditions, and systemic failures by Jubilee Housing Inc. and the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). These challenges have profoundly impacted our physical health, emotional well-being, and sense of security.
We were forced out of our apartment in May, leaving behind our home of over a decade. While we found a safe place to land, the countdown to his release, and the exposure of our current place make it clear that this safety is temporary.
Hugo, who is autistic as well, has regressed developmentally, academically, and socially. I’ve lost my job, assignments, our savings and ultimately our financial stability.
Hugo’s safety and well-being have always been, and will remain, my priority. However, navigating this journey alone has brought substantial financial and emotional strain, making it difficult to provide him with the stability and care he needs and deserves. This GoFundMe is a call for community—to help secure legal advocacy, therapy, personal protection, and ultimately, a fresh start in a safe, supportive environment.
How Your Support Will Help
I recognize that our needs are extensive, and I want to be transparent about where your contributions will make the most immediate impact. Addressing legal advocacy, therapy, and security first ensures that we can stabilize our lives and prepare for long-term solutions like relocation.
Rest assured that every contribution to this fund will directly fund our recovery, safety, and healing.
1. Legal Advocacy – $30,000
Justice is essential—not just for our family, but to hold accountable those who failed us and to protect others in the future. I'm identifying legal resources, but the costs are beyond what I can afford alone. These funds will cover legal representation, court costs, and the fight to hold Jubilee Housing, MPD, and others accountable for their negligence and harm.
2. Security and Personal Protection – $3,800
These funds will help us invest in self-defense training, permits, equipment, and personal security measures to create a safer environment for Hugo and me.
3. Trauma Therapy and Specialized Care – $13,000
Both Hugo and I are navigating the ongoing effects of these traumatic experiences. Addressing the lasting effects of these traumatic experiences is critical for both Hugo and me. For Hugo, this includes therapy tailored to his developmental needs as an autistic child. For me, it’s specialized trauma therapy to address PTSD and rebuild my strength. These funds will cover a year of therapy, medication, and related care for us both.
4. Relocation to Safety – $30,000
While the circumstances around my health render moving immediately a nonstarter, it remains an essential goal. Relocation would provide us with a fresh start in a secure, stable home that meets our needs. These funds will cover moving expenses, housing setup, and rebuilding essentials when the time comes.
Why This Matters
Hugo deserves to grow up without fear, in a home where he feels safe, supported, celebrated, and with his mother alive. For me, this is about reclaiming our lives and ensuring that we not only survive but thrive.
The path forward is challenging, but with your support, we can create a safe, stable future. Every donation, resource, and share brings us closer to safety, justice, and healing. Your kindness and solidarity mean the world to us.
