On March 25, 2021, my father passed due to complications of Covid. He was taken to the Emergency room on March 1st because he was complaining of a bad pain in his stomach. When admitted they found out he had Covid and a mass in his Liver which turned out to be Cancer.
On March 4th they released him because he could not start treatment for his Cancer till he was Covid free. On March 5th we had to rush him to the hospital because he could not breath on his own anymore. The Covid had taken over and he now had Covid lungs. He had to be on oxygen at 100%.
Everything started to do downhill from this point on. His lungs were not functioning, his kidneys were not producing urine, he was not eating any nutrients, his heart was also being effected as well. We did not want to give up when all this was going on. He was finally intubated and during intubation he had strokes.
The Dr's did let us know that he would not be breathing on his own anymore, talking, or functioning at all on his own do to the fact that Covid had effected his brain. We had made the choice that we would talk to my mother about taking him off the machines and letting him go in peace.
He decided on his own. On March 25 at around 4p.m. my father took his last breath and my older sister and I were there fortunately to say goodbye to him. We had happened to be there to have a meeting with the Dr. and he let us go in real quick to see him. My mother did not get to say goodbye and this has taken a toll on her.
I am asking for your help so she could take some time off work to mentally help herself heal. I would want her to rest and not worry about having to go to work, paying bills, or having to go to work depressed. The law only pays for 3 days of work but in reality 3 days is not enough to heal and cope with the pain. If you could help us help her we would appreciate it. Thank you
