Aloha, my name is Meghann Kealoha Matsuda. I am a lifelong Kauaʻi local and the owner of Pineapple Kayaks Kauai and Da Vibes Entertainment and new founder and executive director for Kamalama Foundation.
Community has always come first for me. Through my businesses and personal efforts, I have tried to give back by donating to nonprofit organizations and working alongside aligned nonprofits, local businesses, and community members whenever I can.
Following Hurricane Lowell and the shutdown and slowdown of tourism on Kauaʻi, my income has been severely affected. Tourism and local events are how I make my living, and without visitors and normal business activity, I am unable to earn the income I rely on for my essential personal and business expenses. One thing I am really big on is redefining tourism. I believe that everything we do should perpetuate culture and lead people to non-profits to really be a part of our lifestyle and culture to understand the depths of our culture.
People believe we should not thrive on tourism, Tourism is a part of our life. That is like asking everyone to not travel. When you go to Japan, New Zealand, Tahiti they all have tourism, however, they focus on cultural t
I am asking for help with one month of support—October [2026]—while I navigate this loss of income and work to stabilize my situation.
Since first setting up this fundraiser, I have been able to lower some expenses and receive help in certain areas. Because of that support, I have reduced my fundraising goal to [$8,700].
Funds raised will be used for my October living and business-related expenses, including:
$4,000 for personal and business rent;
$600 for loan payments;
$600 for utilities, including electricity and communications;
$600 for insurance;
$400 for gas;
$1,500 to help supplement income lost by one of my workers who is continuously helping me in the efforts of community and the business; She is also a single mother and would appreciate the help which I would love to extend to her and
Groceries,necessary business expenses, and other essential bills.
I am also volunteering my time to help develop programs intended to support local business owners affected by this crisis, including through the Kamalama Foundation. Information about that work is available at [@kamalamafoundation]. Businesses interested in learning about or applying for available programs may visit [hiriskmanagement.com].
This fundraiser is for my own expenses described above. It is not a donation to the Kamalama Foundation, Hi Risk Management, or any other nonprofit, business, program, or charitable cause. Donations will not be used to fund my volunteer activities or community programs unless I update this fundraiser clearly to say otherwise.
For those who know me, you know I rarely ask for help. I know there are many people in more urgent need, and I encourage everyone to support the individuals, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations they feel most comfortable helping. If you choose to support me, this would give me breathing room for one month and help me focus on getting through this difficult period while continuing to show up for my community. I am deeply grateful for your belief in me and for helping me continue doing everything I can during this time.
Any donations for supporting me, may business and my manager is greatly appreciated. I have no problem with transparency and can answer any questions you have regarding any statements said. You can contact me directly on IG @theredeyeshow
If you are unable to donate, reading my story, sharing this fundraiser, or helping spread the word would mean a great deal to me.
Mahalo nui loa for your support, kindness, and aloha. Your understanding means a lot and even if you can not support financially even a note of encouragement and ideas to support the community during this time is encouraged.
