Help JD Recover from Gender-Affirming Surgery

Hi everyone!

My name is JD. I am a trans non-binary person in LA. I have been seeking gender-affirming care for the past several years, working diligently on getting approval from Medi-Cal for top surgery.

I finally was able to secure a new, trans-competent primary care physician (after dealing with transphobic ones) and a surgeon!

I have been out as trans for 5 years. I am grateful for a strong queer and trans community here in Los Angeles, who support my gender journey. My biological family is primarily not supportive of my transition and identity. So, relying on found family has been my way of surviving.

I am a parent of a wonderful kiddo who is 8 years old. I am very glad to be their parent while modeling living authentically and without shame.

Thankfully, my top surgery was approved through Medi-Cal, so the cost of the procedure is covered. I am raising funds for my top surgery recovery. It will be about 6 to 8 weeks where I will be homebound. I am fortunate to have a partner who is loving and caring and will be able to care for me. However, my partner will be working from home and will need time off to be my primary caregiver, so this fundraiser is to help with rent, unforeseen costs, care, and any expenses that I might accrue while I am recovering this summer.

Cost breakdown: two months of rent- $4090.00

Utilities: $1,000

Food and care supplies: $2,000

My surgery date is July 2, 2025. I am hoping to raise funds by then so that I can recover comfortably and not have to worry about bills.
