In the Summer of 2019, Jacob was diagnosed with Stage IV DSRCT, a very rare form of sarcoma. He went through 8 rounds of chemo and 20 rounds of radiation therapy. After therapy, the cancer was stabilized for approximately 7 months, then the cancer returned. Jacob once again is going through chemotherapy - this time for 6-12 rounds.

Below is a little history of Jacob living in Lubbock and attending Texas Tech University:
Jacob attended TTU HSC the Summer of 2011 through Spring 2013; where he graduated with a Masters in Athletic training (with honors).
During his clinical rotations, Jacob had the opportunity to work with local high schools and Texas Tech programs.
Jacob also worked with:
-Faison at Lubbock Estacado in the Fall of 2011
-Texas Tech Track and Field in the Spring of 2012
-Jon Murray at Abernathy High School in the Fall of 2012, and
-Kerry Wimberley at Lubbock Sports Rehab in the Spring of 2013.
