Supporting My Family, Continuing Education, Building a Life
Donation protected
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported us and to those considering helping us achieve our dreams and overcome the challenges we face.
Your generosity has a profound impact on our lives, and we are deeply grateful to everyone standing by us on this journey.
Hello, my name is Tamer.
I am a Palestinian young man from Gaza currently living in Egypt with my family of 13 members. We are facing difficult economic circumstances and find ourselves in need of your support to maintain a decent life and ensure that my sister and I can continue our education, paving the way for an independent future for us and our family.
My family members include my father (49 years old), my mother (42 years old), and nine siblings ranging in age from 25 to 9 years old, in addition to my 77-year-old grandmother and my sister’s children.
Conversion Note
The donation link is intended for donations in Canadian Dollars (CAD). All amounts mentioned above have been calculated in US Dollars (USD) for clarity. This is why the overall fundraising goal appears higher when converted to Canadian Dollars due to the exchange rate (approximately 1 USD = 1.42 CAD).
To clarify, here’s how Canadian Dollars translate to US Dollars:
14 CAD ≈ 10 USD
70 CAD ≈ 50 USD
140 CAD ≈ 100 USD
Our Current Financial Burdens
Currently, my family is facing significant financial burdens to cover our basic needs. Below is a breakdown of our monthly expenses:
Rent, electricity, water, and gas: Between $400 and $550 USD per month.
Food: Between $800 and $1,000 USD per month, with attempts to reduce expenses as much as possible.
Transportation: Around $200 USD per month to cover necessary trips such as hospital visits and family needs.
Medical expenses: Around $500–$800 USD per month for medication for my mother and grandmother and required medical care.
Total for Six Months
To better illustrate, here’s how these expenses accumulate over six months:
Rent and utilities: $2,400–$3,300 USD
Food: $4,800–$6,000 USD
Transportation: $1,200 USD
Medical expenses: $3,000–$4,800 USD
Subtotal: $10,400–$15,300 USD
Additionally, we need to account for:
Education expenses: Around $5,000–$8,000 USD annually for each of us, for me and my sister.
I aim to continue my education in marketing and design, which will help me build a sustainable career and start my own project to support my family. My sister, currently in her final year of high school (Tawjihi), dreams of studying medicine, a passion she has had since childhood.
Helping extended family: I am allocating 5,000 CAD to help my relatives and family trapped in Gaza, who are suffering from severe poverty and dire humanitarian conditions.
Platform fees and transfer costs: Around $500–$1,000 USD to cover administrative fees and money transfers.
Funds Raised So Far
Thus, the total comes to about $32,000 USD, or CAD 46,000, plus CAD 5,000 for extended family support - a final total of about CAD 51,000.
In addition to the amount we have been able to raise so far (CAD 24,000, which has been used to cover evacuation costs and meet daily needs), this brings us to the goal of CAD 75,000.
Our Goal
Our goal is to build an independent and sustainable future, not only for our family but also to help others in need. With your support, we can meet our urgent needs and lay the foundation for a stable and dignified life.
Conclusion
Every contribution, no matter how small, has a significant impact in changing our lives and achieving our dreams. Your generosity and support give us hope and bring us closer to a better future for ourselves and our family.
Thank you very much to everyone who contributes and supports us in this humanitarian journey.
Ps. Initially this campaign supported my evacuation and some needs in Egypt. Later in Spring 2024, the rest of my family evacuated, and now we have been in Egypt for a long time and we are now raising funds for our current needs and future.
