Support for Wilborn Dycus

Since 1987, Wilborn Dycus has served the citizens of the Varnell and Ringgold areas as a dedicated public servant. Wilborn has been a member of the Ringgold Police Department since 2001, and in that time has served in every capacity from street patrolman to Interim Police Chief. Wilborn is currently serving as a detective for the Agency and regularly assists uniform patrol with daily operations.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, Wilborn was assisting fellow officers in clearing multiple motor vehicle accidents on Interstate 75 near Exit 348. As the officers were attempting to clear the scene, a motorist not adhering to the Move Over Law collided with Wilborn’s police vehicle. As a result of the accident, he sustained numerous injuries, including a broken arm and hip, which required surgery.

The family will need financial assistance to keep the family farm and other affairs going until he can get back on his feet. At this time, it is unknown how long his recovery will take and exactly what help will be needed.

This fund has been set up by friends and members of the Ringgold Police Department. All proceeds received will be given directly to the family.
