The Fate Collective is the performance branch of Fate Club Chicago, focused on creating emotionally provocative, visually striking theater that explores themes like gender, power, emotional capitalism, and queer identity.
We’re raising funds to bring our newest project, Possession, to the stage this fall in Chicago.
Possession is a fully immersive, multi-room theatrical experience blending surreal storytelling, performance art, and psychological excavation. It follows the fragmented inner world of a young woman named Penny as she navigates family trauma, sexual power dynamics, late-stage capitalism, and spiritual disillusionment — through highly stylized, darkly funny, and often unsettling scenes.
This is a devised production, meaning the ensemble builds parts of the piece together. Through collaborative movement, improvisation, and lived experience, we’re co-creating a work that reflects the depth, nuance, and raw truth of our collective voices.
We’re committed to casting LGBTQ and BIPOC performers in central roles — not just for visibility, but because this story is about identity, power, and the systems that shape us. These stories deserve to be told by those who’ve lived their edges.
Possession was born from personal reckoning — with mental illness, with sexual violence, with feeling fragmented and silenced. But this work is not just one person’s story. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt like their body, voice, or truth didn’t belong. It’s for those ready to peel back the layers and look deeper — together.
Your support will help us:
-Build nine immersive, transformative sets
-Pay our cast and crew fairly
-Create costumes, lighting, and sound design
-Rent the venue and technical equipment
-Reach diverse and queer audiences through community outreach
This is more than a play. It’s a ritual, a reckoning, a reclamation. If you believe in the power of bold, experimental, femme-led storytelling — please consider donating or sharing this campaign.
Thank you for helping make Possession possible. We can’t do it without you.
