I AM SUBI and I am 12 years old, in 7th grade. Last summer I was accepted by Brown University and Villanova University to attend two summer programs for outstanding middle school students and this year I got accepted once again.
I have maintained a grade point average of 9 2.5and have been highly involved in TeenSHARP , a weekly college prep program at Rutgers University, A Better Chance that fights for underserved unrepresented student to get into boarding and day schools for about a year now, Rays of Hope , a community service organization for two years; Student Government, Youth Alive Club, and a Peer Leader at my school; Soccer and Track; I am a student ambassador for Girls Who Code , and my brothers and I have had over 20 business ventures since July 2015.
We have sold bath salts in a parfait cup; a shea butter mixture that we made for hair and body; organic chapstick, homead sugar cookies and we had a lemonade stand, and with our earnings, we rented a table at our school's Winter Wonderland and sold decorative plates, homemade cookies, cake pops and more. Instead of spending our money on unimportant things, our goal is to earn, invest, and repeat until we have an established business and brand.

I have enrolled in a two week residential course, Introduction to Mechanical Engineering: Design & Experimentation at Brown because I find STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) very intriguing, and I am passionate about increasing the number of females and minorities who earn a degree and work in the field. I also enrolled in a one week residential leadership and community service program at Villanova because I enjoy giving back to those in need. These courses will help me explore several academic interests and help me prepare for college. Students from all over the world attend these programs. I know that I will gain a great deal from both my studies and interactions with my peers. I am so eager to participate in this life changing experience.
My opportunity is that I need to raise $2500 to help with total program costs for Brown, including the amazing scholarship I received this year. My parents have contributed $300 and I have also used money from the savings from my business ventures toward program costs. Since we are a family of six with my eldest brother in college, my parents are unable to pay the full tuition for my summer programs and I will not allow money to stop me from achieving my goals.
I am reaching out to ask for assistance. I need to raise an additional $2500 by June 20, 2016 . I am hoping that you will consider helping me with a donation.
Click here to learn more about the Brown University STEM I SPARK program. Since the payment deadline is quickly approaching, I sincerely appreciate your support. If you choose to donate, you may do so by cash or check or through Go Fund Me. Checks can be made payable to Brown University or Spark the Wave wity my full name on the memo line. I will be sending all checks together at one time to their Cashier Offices to pay for the programs. Feel free to tell as many people as possible so they can help too. Whether it's $1 or more, NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL.
I greatly appreciate your support. When I return from Brown, I can share all my great experiences once again with all my supporters.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Subi
