My name is Kaelyn Baucum. I am a college-bound, sophomore honor student at Franklin High School. My career aspirations are to work in the FBI Intelligence Behavioral Analysts Department. I have been selected to participate in two nationally prestigious programs: The W.E.B Dubois Scholars Institute at Princeton University and the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security in Washington, DC. I’m requesting your financial support so that I can attend both programs. One is this summer and the other follows in September. First let me tell you more about the programs and then about myself.
About the Programs:
The W.E.B Dubois Scholars Institute is housed at Princeton University and is designed to take young intelligent and ambitious minority and further develop their leadership skills, and then take those skills and apply them to minority communities to help eradicate poverty, racism and infuse hope into the community. Institute student's program follows W.E.B Dubois theory on the talented ten. Not only will this program benefit me, but it will also help me make a difference in my community. The National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security is a program for high school students interested in National Security. As a participant, I will go to George Mason University in Washington, D.C. for 6 days to take an in-depth look at my potential career path and learn firsthand about America's national security, intelligence, and diplomatic fields. While being there, I will be able to create long lasting friendships and network with amazing government officials and mentors to make my dream a reality. About Me:
I've always been a hard working student. My schedule of classes are incredibly rigorous, however with amazing teachers and hard work, I am able to maintain a 3.7 GPA while taking honors classes and making the honor roll.
Outside of coursework, I spend my days participating in a number of extracurricular activities. I was elected by Franklin High School students to fill the leadership role of Secretary of Student Government. From my active role in Student government I had the opportunity to participate in Leadership Training Camp at the college of New Jersey and I plan to attend again this summer. I was also elected to be the vice president of the sophomore class Student Council. I am also a student athlete. I compete with the Franklin High School Swimming team and I am also a manger for the football team. I am also a member of Phi Delta Kappa’s youth organization, Xinos, which helps to prepare us for college, leadership and participating in community service.
I spend time my free time reading writing, watching criminal minds and spending time with family, and friends.
I would love to attend both programs because I am very passionate about helping myself along with my community. The W.E.B Dubois program will not only help me become an outstanding student that rises to become an outstanding member of society but also to help me improve my community.
The National Youth Council Security Program will assist me in pursuing my dream to work for the FBI in the Behavioral Analyst Intelligence department. While I did receive a small scholarship to W.E.B Dubois, I am fundraising to cover my remaining expenses to take the financial burden off my parents and to show my dedication and commitment to both programs.
I would love your support. Please consider contributing to my campaign so that I can participate in these two programs. I look forward to telling you about my experiences.
Thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
Kaelyn
