Jackson lives with two complex disabilities that make everyday life incredibly challenging, recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) and Level 3 autism. All of the money donated to this fundraiser will go directly to Jackson and his mom and be used for his medical care.
RDEB is a rare and painful genetic condition that causes Jackson’s skin to be extraordinarily fragile. Even gentle friction or everyday contact can cause his skin to blister, tear, and form open wounds. Caring for these wounds requires constant attention and specialized medical care.
Jackson is also nonspeaking and profoundly autistic. He is unable to communicate when or where he is hurting, and some of his self-stimulatory and self-injurious behaviors can unintentionally worsen his wounds. This combination makes managing his EB especially difficult.
Through all of this, Jackson’s mom, Jess, is by his side.
Jess is a single mother and Jackson’s full-time caregiver. She provides his care around the clock, doing everything she can to keep him safe and comfortable while navigating two complex diagnoses and the medical challenges that come with them.
Jackson and Jess also live in a rural area, far from much of the specialized care he needs. They frequently have to travel long distances for appointments and life-saving medical care, adding significant travel expenses to the already substantial costs of managing his condition.
**Every dollar raised through this fundraiser will go directly to Jackson and Jess to help with Jackson’s ongoing healthcare needs, including medical and wound-care expenses and the cost of traveling long distances to access the specialized care he needs.**
Our hope is to relieve some of the financial burden Jess carries so she can continue focusing on what matters most. This includes caring for Jackson, managing his wounds, keeping him comfortable, and giving him the best quality of life possible.
If you are able to donate, your contribution will directly support Jackson and his mom as they navigate the immense challenges of RDEB and profound autism. If you are unable to donate, sharing Jackson’s story and this fundraiser is another meaningful way to help.
Thank you for supporting Jackson and Jess.
