Help Mark & Crary Gaggia

Our beloved friend, family member and “Papa”, Mark Gaggia, has stage four lung cancer. He hasn’t wanted to make it too public, but after a year of treatment, the cancer has travelled throughout his body and there is no longer a viable option that would lead to remission. He has asked from day one not to bury him before he’s actually gone, but the time has come for this incredible community of ours to rise up and embrace him and his family as Mark prepares to leave the physical world.

The main goal of this fundraiser is for Crary to be able to stay in their home after Mark is gone. The house that has been a home to their family (and countless random animals and friends) for 47 years.

To those who know Mark and his family, they have the biggest hearts and are constantly giving. Now it’s our turn. A move like this, during a time of deep grief and loss, is too much for anyone to bear. The money will go toward paying off the mortgage and supporting Crary in the years to come.

Mark wrote this note on Facebook a few weeks ago and it captures his spirit so well:

“I am sharing this with all of you whom I have loved over the years and ask not for pity, but more of the same love we have had over the last fifty, seventy or more years. I was diagnosed last fall with stage four lung cancer which has now spread to my brain fluids and other parts of the back etc and am currently being radiated to try and bring some sensation back to my mouth and face. So far, it's not working out real well. I have received THE BEST CARE of my life at the SEATTLE VA hospital and have NO way to thank those loving, competent people there for keeping me going this long already. I love you all and believe that we are real, always have been and always will be and perhaps we will associate again in a way that we cannot even imagine right now, in this world. All my family members are currently home to help me on my journey. I wish the same love for you all when that time comes. Live each moment as if it were the last one, because one day it will be. Your faces are passing before my mind, one at a time, from my siblings to the extended Malone tribe of my. youth, my relatives, car friends and all. If I have left you out, know that I haven't! I Love you all fiercely and dearly.......(do not correct my grammar! hahaha)”
