Support for Sheri Clement & Kids

Many are asking how they can help Sheri and her three kids. Due to circumstances related to her illness, Sheri, her 3 kids, and their 2 dogs are currently living in a 1 bedroom apartment here in Santa Clarita. There is no privacy for any of them - people coming in and out constantly to provide care and very little room for the kids to sleep and even store their clothing and some of their belongings.
A group of her friends are providing care and support to Sheri as she goes through Stage 4 Melanoma with metastasis to the brain, lungs and other organs. She does not have many relatives, no siblings or family in the area. She has an amazing group of friends who love her very much and currently are helping with meals, giving medications, driving to doctor appointments and general support. She recently became diabetic as a result of her medications so several of us have been trained to check her blood sugar and give her insulin shots 3 times per day.
Sadly we have received no compassion from her landlord, who unbelievably is charging her $2,900/month because she does not have a long term lease. We have made the decision to move her to a 2 bedroom place so they can have a little more room. We had to sign a one year lease in order to get the rent to a reasonable price. Sheri is on disability now and her insurance will run out at the end of the month so she will also have to pay for Cobra.
The money will be used to help cover her basic monthly expenses. The apartment complex they are in is very basic. Unfortunately rent is just very high in southern California. Rent, utilities, insurance, food, healthcare and the kids' needs are very challenging to afford.
I met Sheri 5 years ago when we were both going through chemotherapy. Cancer brought us together. She has been through so much. Her perseverance through multiple recurrances has been incredible. She is an amazing friend, mom, co-worker, human being. We all want to do whatever we can to give Sheri and her family a comfortable place to live in a supportive environment. It would mean so much to all of us that love Sheri if you find it in your heart to contribute to their daily living expenses. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart!
