Help Samantha Robinson Heal

My name is Jessica Moore, sister of Samantha Robinson. On January 31, my sister was taken to the Haywood County emergency room. The migraines she had been suffering from incessantly had begun to escalate, along with vision problems that seemed to arise overnight. We speculated about so many causes for her symptoms, and never in a million years would any of us have guessed cancer.

Through Samantha, I have learned so many important life lessons. The absolute greatest of them all was the meaning of unconditional love. As children, she and I thrived on each other's happiness and continue to do so. To know Samantha is to know her contagious positive energy, bright light, kindness, creativity, silliness, and absolute beauty of a human.

While Haywood County was able to perform an MRI and CT scan, they could not provide further care. Samantha and her husband Anson headed directly to Duke Medical Center for further treatment. After 48 hours of waiting, an endoscopic third ventriculostomy was performed, creating a new pathway for the cerebral spinal fluid to drain from her brain, alleviating the hydrocephalus that was causing her excruciating symptoms. The surgery went well, and they were also able to successfully biopsy the tumor. Samantha was ready to come home to her family just a couple of days later. We are still waiting for the official stage of the Glioma that is in the Pineal Region of her brain. As soon as it is determined, a treatment plan will be presented, and radiation will start right away. I will continue to update this page as we receive information from the doctors.

My family and I are devoting everything we have right now to supporting Samantha so that she can be strong and get better. Samantha has resigned from her job to focus solely on her health, Anson will continue to work full-time and take care of her needs. I am reaching out to our community because we need help. My dream right now for Samantha (and those who know her endearingly as Ham) is that she can take time for herself while she undergoes treatment and to spend time with her husband Anson and son, Wyatt. To eliminate the stress of medical bills and other expenses is necessary.

A friend of mine taught me recently that we are not meant to live this life alone. We have all learned a lot over the past few weeks. Despite having the most fearful and darkest moments of our lives, we’ve also learned about the light that comes with feeling loved and supported by the people around us who encourage us to stay positive, knowing that Samantha will get through this. We are so grateful for the love and support our family has received during this time. We are amazed at the tiers of support that our loved ones are forming all around us. Allowing each other the space to come together, lean on one another, and lift each other. As we navigate this unforeseen and challenging path, we are constantly reminded of the strength of our community and the power of unconditional love.

We are asking for your help. Your contributions will help alleviate the financial burden Samantha is currently facing. These funds will help cover her medical costs, provide for her family’s basic living needs and expenses, and allow her to focus on the most crucial task at hand: healing. But also, the smallest acts of kindness, such as sharing Samantha's story or offering to cook a healthy meal, hold immense power. They strengthen the bond between our communities and remind us that we are not alone.

We will continue to update this page to keep everyone in the loop. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this and show support for Samantha.
