Hi Everyone,

This month, we received devastating news: our dear friend Coco Love Alcorn has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Cancer. If you know Coco, you know that she is a singer, songwriter, performer, choir leader, and mother whose life has been devoted to music, creativity, and authentic connection. Coco is dedicated to building community through her art, sharing her voice generously, and living with heart and integrity.

On December 9th she had surgery, but unfortunately, the doctors couldn’t remove all of it. She’s now under the care of a team of specialists in London, ON, a three-hour drive from her home in Owen Sound, and she’ll begin treatment on December 31st — two types of chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy. After four rounds of this treatment, she’ll face another, more complicated surgery followed by a lengthy hospital stay. Once she recovers from that, there will be eight more months of immunotherapy ahead.

Coco is entering a long and challenging journey. She’s staying hopeful and grounded, but as an independent musician, she doesn’t have access to benefits like employment insurance or sick leave. With her treatment schedule, she’s had to cancel every concert, every tour, and even postpone the recording of her new album. She also had to pause her local choir until further notice. This means she’s facing at least a year ahead with almost no income — while focusing all her strength on healing.

If you’ve ever been touched by Coco’s music, her choir leadership, or just her warm presence, you already understand what an extraordinary person she is. Coco is deeply committed to healing—but like anyone facing something this big, she is also scared and daunted at times. Asking for help does not come easily to her. In fact, she initially hoped to move through this quietly with only a small circle of support. Those of us who love her encouraged her to let the wider community show up.

This GoFundMe is here so Coco can focus on healing, because financial stress should never be part of someone’s cancer journey.
