Help Boondock Squad build our home studio!

Amidst this growing pandemic, we as a society need to work together to find genuine solutions to the crises we are facing, as well as the longstanding contradictions that are causing our modern-day ills. Boondock Squad recognizes the connectedness of our work to the developments in our communities. Our members not only plan to do our part in containing this pandemic, and organizing in our communities to provide services and find solutions – we plan to create a variety of cultural works like music, video journals, films, virtual concerts & conversations, and other content that are timely, timeless, engaging and inspiring during these unprecedented moments.

Boondock Squad launched this crowdfunder to ask for your help in building our home studio. We plan to produce high-quality audio and video projects, and we'd be so grateful for your support! Through your contributions to this fund, we will be able to fully produce our next album, as well as many other future works. We will also be able to support other community artists, creatives and cultural workers with their exciting new projects.

Boondock Squad was formed in September 2008. We have since amassed over 30 songs, performed in hundreds of events for thousands of people, and supported many causes for environmental and social justice. With the recent addition of our talented new members Judybelle and JSE, we are ready to fully produce our most exciting album project yet. This project will contain at least 11 songs – many of which have been waiting to be part of your listening experience for several years.

Throughout the years, we have constantly been asked about when our album project will be dropping. Many people have been asking us where they can listen to songs like 'Undefeated', 'Royalties', 'Encampment', 'Tribes', and 'Likha'. Because we only have two of our songs on streaming platforms, we could most of the time only refer people to recordings of our live performances. We are more than ready to produce studio-quality recordings of our songs from our own homes.

With the support of our community, followers, and loved ones like yourself, we can overcome the financial and logistical challenges of recording our music album as a live band. We have decided to complete our album project from our own homes because were in the process of recording in a studio early this year, but we were halted by our community's need to shelter-in-place during the pandemic. We want to bring our music to your home. We want to be sustainable and gain the capability to record and engineer music from our own homes. We’d like you to be part of this meaningful creative process.

Your support will enable to us to purchase equipment like a condenser microphone, dynamic microphones, an audio interface, and other essential gear for the best prices we can find. This will help us use our skills in writing & composition, project management, engineering, videography, publishing & distribution, marketing, and many other fields, to independently produce our album.

About us:

The word ‘boondocks’ comes from the Tagalog ‘bundók’, which means mountains. It was assimilated into American English when invaders clashed with guerrilla fighters in the mountains of Luzon during the Philippine-American war. The invaders construed the boondocks or the ‘boonies’ to mean wilderness – the rural, outlying or savage places.
