Fifteen years ago, I told the story of Angel in a documentary (Here is the film). The film is about a former boxer and gay rights activist from Ecuador, now a transgender sex worker in Paris, who supports her family back home.
In the film, Angel returns to Ecuador to visit her family for the first time since she left her country. The film is above all the touching story of a remarkable individual and her fight for justice and acceptance.
But it’s also about a terrible disappointment. During the trip, Angel is confronted with the ambiguous relationship she has with her family, who seems to accept her more out of interest than out of love. She also finds out that her brother hadn’t built the house that she’d been sending money for.
I put the film on YouTube a few years ago and it’s been getting a fair share of views. People often write to me asking me to do a sequel. They also want to know if Angel managed to build her house and how’s she’s doing today, almost 15 years after the film was made.
To this day, Angel hasn’t realized her dream. I feel that the time has come to help her fulfill this dream, which over time has become more ambitious: to buy a plot of land in Ecuador and build a small farm in Ecuador.
This would provide her with a source of revenue and get her off the streets. To help her realise her objective, I have decided to set up a crowdfunding campaign to collect the money needed for the project.
I decided to ask online viewers to help Angel raise €10,000 to buy the plot of land which is the first set to the establishment of her farm.
