Hello, my name is Lucinda and I am a second-year student midwife who is passionate about caring and supporting women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journeys.

As part of my midwifery training, I have been given the opportunity to complete an elective volunteering placement in Sri Lanka, where I will work alongside local healthcare professionals to provide support with maternal and newborn care in the various hospitals and local villages of the South-west.

Alongside enhancing my midwifery skills and gaining invaluable experience, this amazing opportunity will enable me to increase my knowledge, understanding and awareness of women’s experiences in a different culture and healthcare setting, which is challenged by limited healthcare resources.

As I will be self-funding this opportunity, any donation (no matter how big or small) will be greatly appreciated as it will support me to cover the cost of my placement, accommodation, travel, medical supplies, vaccinations and more.
