Rebuilding Hope for your Gazan brother

I've become known as Prince and your local Canadian in Gaza. My name is Ahmed Kouta. As I visited Gaza to finalize and defend my masters thesis on "Administrative Problems among Nurses Working at Al-Shifa Medical Complex and Their Relationship to Job Satisfaction". A big turn out to the plans have occurred. Three months later you all know the life I am enduring. From a Canadian Londoner enjoying life pursuing in the health field to a homeless helper sleeping on a different floor every couple days!

Making this decision has been a challenge, and I find myself still hesitant about it. Prince, as you know me by this name, I've consistently embodied a spirit of generosity, aspiring to emulate the generosity of Palestine as a giver. Throughout these difficult months, I remained steadfast in offering assistance to those in need.

I've come to Gaza for a visit. I wanted to enjoy time with family and end the year with a new plan. After a couple days I found myself in the ER wearing my uniform doing my duty. It was a voluntary choice but everything in my heart was wavering its time people need you! It's time to step up! It's time to fulfill your dreams. I always dreamt of helping not in the way it happened, but things don't always go our way. I was at the hospital for most of the time, each time I entered I pray I don't have to find my family coming to the ER needing care. Each time I left I'd pray I can make it back continue my role. It was very tough, it was every childs scream, every mother's prayer, every father's tear. It was something to let you continue. Each time you want to sleep you get a flashback of all the scenes and can only pray it's not your turn in any possible way. At a point my turn came and I've become a person with nothing. I've been left alone as my family had to leave southern Gaza. I was stuck at the hospital giving aid.

I never wanted to be on the receiving end, I believe in the fact it makes you depend on others. However, amidst the destruction, I reached a point of losing everything, running with only the clothes on my back. While I refrain from painting a picture of sorrow for sympathy, this initiative is about regaining stability and self-sufficiency.

Establishing this page was a difficult decision, driven by the desire to provide a link for those who express a personal interest in extending support. The link is offered with the understanding that it's a choice, not an obligation.

I don't see myself as a hero; being a nurse is a voluntary duty, and I'm proud of it. Although heroes can face tough times, that only makes them stronger.

I remain committed to future campaigns and projects that align with my ethos of generosity and assistance to others. This page is not just about personal recovery; it is a beginning to the enduring spirit of giving and the unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
