Join Our Journey: Support our X-Cup Team in the Great Race 2023!

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

We are thrilled to announce our participation in the legendary Great Race 2023, a thrilling cross-country adventure from historic St. Augustine, Florida, to the stunning destination of Colorado Springs, Colorado. But we need YOUR support to make this unforgettable journey a reality!

These young men have the opportunity to create life-long memories, make new friends, see scenic roads across our country AND have the opportunity to receive automotive scholarships! What on earth could be a better way to spend a couple of weeks for these students?

The Great Race X-Cup is a cross-country rally that pits student driver/ navigator teams against the clock and against each other. These young enthusiasts will be in timed, controlled speed, endurance competitions over scenic public highways and roads. The scores for each team are the result of the team’s ability to follow all designated course instructions precisely.

The Cobra Experience Museum is sponsoring our X-Cup racing team which is composed of 7 Alhambra High grads, their former auto shop teacher and our ace mechanic who will be driving support for the team. We’re driving a magnificent 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, a true symbol of American muscle and automotive heritage. This incredible race is not about speed, but about precision, navigation, and camaraderie.

However, embarking on this unforgettable journey requires significant resources. Registration fees, travel expenses, fuel costs, accommodations, and equipment maintenance all add up. That's why we're launching this GoFundMe campaign — to rally together and help our dreams take flight! We have already raised $10,500 and have only $4800 to go!

We have been very fortunate so far to have supporters from great companies like Hagerty, Les Schwab Tires of Martinez, Monument Car Parts, and Team Shelby Great Lakes Region. Having clubs like Team Shelby support our goals in helping to raise money in support of this youth team allows us to inspire MORE young people to join the auto industry. That is truly in the spirit of the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which provides scholarships to kids, who want to learn how to become auto techs. Help us to be able to share that with more youth!

Your generous contribution will not only propel our X-Cup team across the finish line but also support our dedication, countless hours of preparation, and unwavering passion for motorsports. Every dollar raised will go directly towards race-related expenses, ensuring that we have the tools and support needed to conquer the Great Race 2023!
