Hi, my name is Brittany—and I’m a single mother, a birth assistant, a doula, and a woman deeply called to serve in birth work.
My journey began after the birth of my own child. That experience changed me forever. Not long after, I was present at the birth of my nephew, and something inside me awakened—I knew I was meant to be in this sacred space, to walk alongside women during some of the most powerful and vulnerable moments of their lives.
I walked into Abundant Life Birth Center one day and told the midwife—who is also a dear friend—“I’ll scrub floors. I’ll fold towels. I just want to be here and learn. I feel so strongly that I’m meant to be part of this.” She looked at me and said, “You are 100% called to birth work.” And just like that, she took me under her wing.
Since then, I’ve completed a DONA-approved doula certification course, been trained as a birth assistant, and earned my neonatal resuscitation certification. I’ve spent the last two years loving this work, growing in it, and learning from every mother and baby I’ve supported.
Now I’m ready to take the next step: to become a midwife.
I’ve been accepted into a private, state-accredited midwifery school that begins this August. The most amazing part? Their new East Coast satellite campus is located at the birth center where I work, just minutes from home. It feels like everything is aligning—but I need help to move forward.
Because this program is private, it does not accept federal financial aid. I am applying for scholarships and private grants. But many grants are limited and competitive, and time is short with school starting in just a few months.
The full program is three years and totals 37,000$. My immediate goal is to raise enough to cover admission costs and the first two semesters, so I can begin this journey while continuing to seek out additional resources.
As a single mother, I’m working hard to balance everything—supporting my son, working, and attending births. But this calling is bigger than me. I want to provide a better life for my child and be part of transforming the birth experience for women in our community. I believe that every mother deserves care that is compassionate, informed, and empowering—and I want to be part of delivering that care as a midwife.
If you feel called to support this dream, I would be deeply grateful. Every donation—no matter the size—helps bring this vision to life. And if you’re not in a position to give, simply sharing this page means the world.
Thank you for believing in me, and thank you for being part of this journey.
With love,
Brittany
