Support my dad’s fight against stage four cancer

In January of this year, my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, and on Thursday, August 17th, he will be having a procedure that involves removing half of his liver.

This is one of the many battles my dad, Rafael, has had to fight since his diagnosis. Following the immediate colostomy surgery in January, my dad lost his job (1099), lost his apartment, and has been going through a nasty divorce. Watching my dad go through all this has been heartbreaking, but my brothers and I have done everything we can to support him. Thankfully, he was finally granted disability! He's been working through the pain and tiredness that comes with chemo.

It's been a miracle that he has made it this far, and we thank God for the countless miracles we've seen and will continue to see!

As we head towards this next procedure and plan for the next couple more he needs to have done after this one, one of the things we need to prepare for is his financial situation. The disability money that has been given is hardly enough to cover rent for a studio. We are hoping to raise $15,000 for him to use to simply live; to buy food for himself, pay his car payments, cover medical bills, and so much more that the disability money cannot cover.

The most important thing you can do for my dad and my family is to pray for a miracle. I know God is able to heal my dad completely, and we need your prayers for strength, patience, and peace while we wait. "The prayer from the heart of a person right with God has much power."

The second most important thing you can do for my dad and our family is to give. I know God will provide through many different ways and people, and if you are willing to give, I am thankful.

$15,000 is a number that I came up with that I know can cover my dad's rent for about 10 months. This feels like the starting point because I'm sure more things will come up. I am trying to get him on Section 8 currently. I don't know how much time we need, but I am thankful to know that he will be taken care of for almost a year while he fights this battle.
