Support Cora's Long NICU Battle
Donation protected
My niece’s daughter, Cora, was born on June 20, 2024, at just 24 weeks gestation and weighed just over 1 lb! She has been fighting ever since. After being born in Toledo, they transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in July for heart surgery (PDA closure). While she is stable, she still relies on a ventilator for breathing support, and despite multiple attempts, she has been unable to wean off. Her medical team has told us she may need a tracheostomy, which means she will come home with a feeding tube, a ventilator, and require in-home medical care. Her doctors estimate that she may remain in the NICU until early summer.
This journey has been incredibly challenging, but Cora is so resilient. After three miscarriages, Dani and Bryce are beyond grateful to have her, and they are doing everything they can to make her NICU life as normal as possible. They spend most of their day by her side, engaging her in developmental activities and being present for all her care moments.
At the same time, this extended hospital stay has put an extremely heavy strain on their finances. My Niece was laid off in October, and her unemployment runs out in April. While she’s actively searching for a remote job, they are living in Columbus at the Ronald McDonald House to be with Cora and most of the time they have to eat at the hospital or nearby restaurants. Medical bills are starting to pile up, and there will be many more to come.
We are hoping to raise $25,000 to help cover food, medical costs, travel, and other daily needs while they continue to be at the hospital with Cora. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to them
and their family. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would also be a huge help.
Thank you so much in advance for your help!!
