Emily and Jared need all of the support they can get as they don’t know what the next few weeks and months will hold for them or their son. Please send as many prayers as you can for their sweet baby Lathan and for their own personal strength and guidance. If you have the means or feel compelled, we’ve set this up to try and take some of the pressure off so they can focus solely on Lathan and each other for the time being!

Little Lathan arrived 2 weeks early on August 6th in Key West. After only a few short minutes with his momma, the nurses realized something just wasn’t right. The amazing staff surrounding him quickly and stabilized him. He was flown to Nicklaus Children’s hospital in Miami, 3 hours away from Mom and Dad.
After he arrived they performed an echo of his heart and we received the news that no parent ever wants to hear. Our perfect baby has a pretty severe congenital heart defect that will require multiple surgeries. Doctors are having a meeting of the minds sometime today (8/9) to discuss the best treatment plan and we will know more after that.
Lathan has been doing amazing so far, which is a good sign of his strength and potential outcomes. Please forgive us if we don’t answer all messages, we are reading them and the amount of support we are receiving is overwhelming. It just isn’t easy to find words right now.
