A message from daughter Tara:
My mom's lengthy fight with Covid -19 has drastically changed her life circumstances. She is now precariously housed and responsible for debts. Since her bout with the Coronavirus, her immune system and cardiac conditions have left her compromised and are being medically monitored. These challenges are on top of her living with cancer.
I'm so proud of my mom. She has fought for social justice her entire adult life. She has been a long-standing core member of the Toronto "Raging Grannies," has been active at Quaker meetings, and is knowledgeable about Indigenous/Settler relations. She participates in the Native People's Parish, the Older Women's Network and the Common Thread Community Chorus. She is a resourceful community-based planner and has served on countless committees and campaigns to help the vulnerable. She has always been fiercely independent, but now my mom herself is vulnerable and needs our help.
To recover from both emotional and physical trauma and regain physical health, my mom requires immediate intervention to reduce her stress. We are seeking funds for the following services on an ongoing basis for the next few months.
Psychologist/Psychotherapist: 1 hr. per week @ $120
Art Therapist: 1 hr. per week @ $50
Housekeeper/Help with Relocating: 8 hr. per week @ $26
Holistic /healing supplements: $300
Travel to reconnect with family (Vancouver): $800
Total for 1 month: $ 2612
