Elsie's Story:
Our friends Abbey and Dane are going through the unimaginable.
On 10th January 2026 Elsie was diagnosed with DIPG brain cancer - inoperable, incurable. An incredible stress for the family as they care for Elsie and their three other children.
Since that day, Elsie has shown courage far beyond her years. She is a bright, fun-loving little girl whose strength, smile and positive spirit continue to inspire everyone around her. But behind that bravery are relentless appointments, treatment, uncertainty and fear — and a family doing everything possible to keep hope alive.
Elsie loves playing with her twin brother and her two older siblings. Like any child, she deserves days filled with games, cuddles, stories, family adventures and the simple happiness of being a little girl. Her family is fighting for more of those moments — and they need help now.
Why We Are Fundraising
DIPG is one of the most devastating childhood brain cancers, and effective treatment options remain extremely limited. Time is painfully important. While there is no easy path forward, a groundbreaking medication offers real hope for improving Elsie’s quality of life and supporting her ongoing fight.
The money we are aiming to raise is to fund a personalised vaccine, using her tumour DNA to target her brain tumour. This mRNA vaccine is a newly developed treatment, which will open as part of the PaeNeo Vax clinical trial in Adelaide in the coming weeks. Sadly, again, Elsie is ineligible to be a participant of this clinical trial as she needed to be diagnosed within 20 weeks of the trial opening, and for Elsie the 20 weeks was up at the end of May (as she was diagnosed on 10th January). We can, however, access the personalised vaccine direct from the Canadian manufacturer, but it comes at a cost, and this cost is $400,000. That means her family must urgently raise the funds needed to have the medication.

The goal of this fundraiser is to raise $400,000. These funds will go directly towards the costs involved in giving Elsie access to this medication, including manufacturing, medical preparation, administration, treatment-related care, and any additional support required to safely pursue this option. Elsie’s results will also be carefully analysed to help guide future treatment options for other children and families facing DIPG. Every dollar brings this urgent treatment opportunity closer — and may help create knowledge that could support others in the future.
