Making Peace Possible.
The Democratic Republic of Congo ( DRC) faces many intersectional challenges. Exacerbated by political instability and armed conflict, there is widespread poverty, inadequate healthcare, poor education and infrastructure deficits. This project aims to work with local communities to identify issues and implement solutions. The following quotes are from our previous work.
" My name is Rose, I am 13 years old. I came from Sake. I have created this gun to fight against rebels from M23. This is my only way to survive.
" We have lost both our parents. Here we can eat, but there is no school". Joshua and Nathan, age 6 and 7
Initial timeline: May 2024- November 2024.
Who will it Benefit?
  • The project will be initially enacted in two regions: Greater Katanga ( May 2024) and Greater Kivu ( September 2024)
  • it will begin with the collection of information from individual communities, forming an understanding of the key issues faced by populations in DRC.
  • Building upon these insights, the project will be extended to encompass five additional regions.
  • Care will be taken to acknowledge the unique challenges communities face, whilst simultaneously maintaining a broader perspective aimed at comprehensively addressing issues prevalent across the DRC.
How will they benefit?
  • The participatory focused approach, utilising meetings, open discussions and group activities aims to draw upon the population's own autonomy and power for change and social development.
  • This project seeks to work with communities to address the issues our research finds through funding the implementation of sustainable solutions.
WHERE WILL YOUR DONATIONS GO?
  • We are reaching out to individuals and organisations to ask for their support of the Deep Congo Campaign through financial contributions.
  • Our utmost priority is ensuring that the communities we endeavour to help are the primary beneficiaries and we will be compensating individuals for their engagement.
  • Additionally, as our work involves implementing tangible solutions using locally sourced materials and labour, funding is crucial.
