Support My New Beginning: Traveling to Ireland
Donation protected
Hey there! I’m Shannon.
I’m 31 years old, and I’m reaching out for help as I embark on a new chapter in my life.
2024 has been a transformative year for me - I came out as Trans Non-Binary and was diagnosed with multiple disabilities, including Autism, ADHD, and Chronic Pain (woohoo!).
These diagnoses, along with the start of my gender identity journey, have led me to make significant changes in my life to better support my needs. I left my previous jobs, where I performed well but struggled physically and mentally, and started my own businesses, Maintaining Shanity and WalkNSitsbyShan to fund it. My mission is to support the Autistic Community—a population that is often underpaid, undervalued, and facing high rates of addiction, unemployment, and mental health challenges.
Growing up undiagnosed, it was incredibly difficult to find a space where I felt truly safe and accepted. Despite this, I broke records in Track & Field at my alma mater, Quince Orchard HS, which led me to attend a Division I college on athletic and academic scholarships. I competed in three sports, tutored students part-time, and graduated Cum Laude.
After graduation, I went on to Nursing School part-time while working 3-4 part-time jobs to support myself. Life was confusing, painful, and I couldn’t understand why things were so difficult. But in 2024, I finally received my diagnoses and discovered my gender identity, bringing me the validation and clarity I needed to build a future that aligns with who I truly am.
Why I’m asking for help:
As part of my ongoing journey, I plan to spend 90 days abroad, which will give me time to better prepare for the future. This will involve travel expenses, medical preparation, and other necessary costs.
Along the way, I’m focusing on building my business, which I hope will provide financial stability and allow me to continue my work supporting the neurodivergent community. But I need help to get there.
Your support will go towards covering travel expenses, medication, food, and the basic necessities I’ll need as I continue to build the life I envision—a life where I can thrive, support others, and work toward long-term goals that benefit my community.
I’m so grateful for your time and consideration. Any support, whether it’s a donation, sharing my story, or sending encouraging words, means the world to me. Thank you for believing in me and being part of this journey!
With gratitude,
Shannon
