I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin during an incredibly difficult and unexpected time. Her husband was the main provider for her and her young son, and with his sudden absence, she is now facing the challenge of keeping everything together while figuring out next steps.

On New Year’s Eve at around 10:30 a.m., my family and I experienced something extremely traumatic that I never imagined would happen to us.

My husband, my 6-year-old son, and I were on our way to my son’s surgery when we were suddenly stopped by ICE. Three cars pulled us over. About six officers jumped out and surrounded our vehicle. They began hitting my window, my husband’s window, and even the window next to my son. My child was terrified.

The moment I saw what was happening, I locked the doors and told my husband to only roll his window down a little so we could hear what they were saying. The officers began yelling at him to get out of the car and threatened to break all of our windows.

Somehow, they managed to open the driver’s side door. Four officers grabbed my husband and tackled him to the ground in front of me and my child.

He is now in jail because they labeled him a “criminal” and claimed he was supposed to be in jail — yet they showed no warrant, no paperwork, and no proof that they were even looking for him.

My husband has never been to jail and has a clean record.
