Support Varduhi to study at Sorbonne University

Several weeks ago, I became one of the happiest students who received an admission letter to study Art History and Archeology in the Licence 3 Parcours Intensif program at the Paris-Sorbonne University.

 

After putting together my savings and the money my family lent me, I'm asking for Your help in raising the remaining funds needed for me to attend the program. I plan on using the money for housing expenses as well as cost-of-living expenses. This study abroad experience is the first step in my endeavor to become a more global citizen and to learn about my future work in the real world.

 

ABOUT ME:

 

My name is Varduhi, which means a rose in Armenian, and I come from the land of breathtaking landscapes and astonishing contrasts. As a nation, we have all been searching for ways forward after the sweeping changes of circumstances we underwent in a destructive war in 2020. Despite having felt all the troubles of war, I tried to escape the feeling of hopelessness. With the support of my family, I understood and felt even stronger the need for educated professionals in any field, be it culture, economy, or politics. I am more motivated now than ever to move further with my academic achievements and dreams and finally do all that is in my hands to support my community.

 

In 2016, after graduating high school, I got admitted to the American University of Armenia Bachelor’s program of English and Communications. Four years of my studies at AUA were only the beginning of a passionate journey. Very excited by the Art history and Anthropology courses, I gradually shifted towards studying art and decided to pursue a career in Art History and Archeology. After doing my research in cultural anthropology and looking into the ethnographic artworks by Armenian women, I got more and more enthusiastic about the very act of exploring human nature through art.

 

I decided to find institutions of alternative education outside of my university as well. I got involved in several online and offline programs including the following:

• Folk Arts Hub Foundation in Yerevan
• HAYP Pop Up Gallery (content researcher & assistant curator)
• IN SITU Art agency (researcher)
• Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (planning to curate a show with contemporary artists.)
• Contemporary Art History at Medialab in Yerevan
• ArtLab Yerevan

 

After a year of experience in curating and research, I was more convinced that I need to continue my education and become more specialized in the field I am really passionate about. However, I always knew that my chances of getting a professional and quality education in art history in Armenia are very limited. Understanding that the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Sorbonne University is today the largest in France in arts and social sciences, I was more than motivated to apply. Only in several months did I prepare for the DELF B2 French language examination and successfully passed it. And a few days ago, I received an email from Sorbonne University saying, “Congratulations, you have been offered admission in the Faculty of Art History and Archeology at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.”

 

There are two proverbs in Armenian: “One flower does not bring the spring” and “One hand cannot clap”. I also hope to bring the breeze of the knowledge and passion from my experience and studies to my country. I might be only one flower and one hand now, but sharing what I hope to gain from my study abroad and facilitating the concerned community in Armenia, I might very well prepare a foundation for another cultural revolution.

 

I wouldn't be where I am today without the love, support, and encouragement I've had from so many of you.

Մի քանի շաբաթ առաջ տեղեկացա, որ հնարավորություն եմ ստացել Արվեստի պատմություն և հնագիտություն սովորելու Փարիզի Սորբոն համալսարանում։


Խնայողություններս և ընտանիքիցս փոխանցված գումարները համադրելուց հետո, ծրագրին մասնակցելու համար անհրաժեշտ մնացած միջոցները հայթայթելու համար դիմում եմ ձեր օգնությանը: Արտերկրում սովորելու այս փորձառությունը շատ կարևոր է թե՛ ինձ համար անհատապես, թե՛ որպես քաղաքացի, մշակույթի ոլորտում բարեփոխումներին նպաստելու համար։  



ԻՄ ՄԱՍԻՆ:


Իմ անունը Վարդուհի է: Վերջին ժամանակներում տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունների և ավելի կոնկրետ 2020 թ.-ին ապակառուցողական պատերազմում կրած հանգամանքների սրընթաց փոփոխությունից հետո, բոլորս փնտրում ենք առաջընթացի ուղիներ: Չնայած զգացել էի պատերազմի բոլոր դժվարությունները, փորձեցի խուսափել հուսահատության զգացումից:  Ավելի սուր և ակնհայտ է այսուհետ ցանկացած ոլորտում կրթված մասնագետների անհրաժեշտությունը, լինի դա մշակույթի, տնտեսության, թե քաղաքականության ոլորտում: Հիմա, ես ավելի մոտիվացված եմ, քան երբևէ, կարևոր կրթությանս դերը իմ ընտրած ոլորտը հնարավորինս բարելավվելու համար:

2016 թվականին, ավագ դպրոցն ավարտելուց հետո, ընդունվեցի Հայաստանի Ամերիկյան Համալսարանի անգլերենի և հաղորդակցություն բաժինը: ՀԱՀ-ում ուսմանս չորս տարիները հետաքրքիր ճանապարհորդության միայն սկիզբն էին: Արվեստի պատմության և մարդաբանության դասընթացներից շատ ոգևորված, սկսեցի ուսումնասիրել այդ գիտությունները և շուտով որոշեցի որ պիտի փոխեմ մասնագիտությունս, և արվեստի պատմություն սովորեմ: Մշակութային մարդաբանության մեջ իմ ուսումնասիրությունները կատարելուց հետո ես ավելի ու ավելի էի ոգևորվում արվեստի միջոցով մարդկային բնությունը ուսումնասիրելու հնարավորությունից:

Այնուհետև, որոշեցի այլընտրանքային կրթության և աշխատանքային հաստատություններ փնտրել համալսարանից դուրս: Ներգրավվեցի մի քանի առցանց և անցանց ծրագրերում, ներառյալ հետևյալը.

Աշխատելու, սովորելու և ուսումնասիրելու մեկ տարվա փորձից հետո ես ավելի համոզված էի, որ պետք է շարունակեմ կրթությունս և ավելի մասնագիտանամ որպես արվեստաբան և համադրող։ Սակայն, հաշվի առնելով այն փաստը, որ Հայաստանում արվեստի պատմության մեջ մասնագիտական ​​և որակյալ կրթություն ստանալու իմ հնարավորությունները շատ սահմանափակ էին, ես սկսեցի համալսարաններ փնտրել Հայաստանից դուրս։ Հասկանալով, որ Սորբոնի համալսարանի արվեստի պատմության և հնեաբանության ֆակուլտետը Ֆրանսիայում և առհասարակ ամենաառաջատարներից է արվեստի և հումանիտար գիտությունների բնագավառում, ես ավելի քան ոգևորված էի դիմել: Մի քանի ամսում պատրաստվեցի ֆրանսերեն լեզվի DELF միջազգային քննության և հաջողությամբ հանձնեցի այն: Վերջապես, իմ ջանքերը անարդյունք չմնացին, քանի որ մի քանի օր առաջ Սորբոնի համալսարանից ստացա հետևյալ նամակը՝ «Շնորհավորում ենք, Դուք ընդունվել եք Փարիզի 1-ին Պանթեոն-Սորբոնի Արվեստի պատմության և հնագիտության ֆակուլտետ»:

Հուսով եմ, որ իմ փորձառությունը, ուսումնառությունը ու ստացված գիտելիքները կկարողանամ փոխանցել և  կիսելով այն, ինչ ձեռք կբերեմ արտերկրում իմ ուսման արդյունքում կնպաստի Հայաստանում մշակութային ոլորտի զարգացմանը։  

Ցանկացած օգնություն մեծապես գնահատվում է։

Չնայած ամեն ինչին, ես ուզում եմ անկեղծորեն շնորհակալություն հայտնել բոլորին։

Ayant obtenu ma licence en "Études Sociales” à l'Université Américaine en Arménie j’ai réalisé que mes études effectuées ainsi que le domaine choisi ne sont pas conformes à mes besoins professionnels. Ainsi, je me suis décidée, après de longues réflexions, à me reconvertir dans le domaine de l’art et de l'archéologie. C’est pourquoi, j’ai décidé d'intégrer la faculté d’histoire d’art et d'archéologie à l’université de la Sorbonne.

 

J’ai préparé l'examen DELF B2 en français. Malgré la difficulté de l’apprentissage de la langue française, j'ai pu obtenir mon examen en espace de 5 mois. L’obtention de ce diplôme m’a permis de choisir ma voie professionnelle.

 

D’abord je voudrais présenter les raisons qui m’ont poussée à recommencer mes études en licence dans ce domaine. Tout a commencé des disciplines “histoire de l’art” et “culture et anthropologie” figurées dans mon cursus universitaire qui m’ont donné envie de découvrir ce domaine plus profondément et c’est à cette discipline que j’ai consacré mon projet de fin d'études universitaire concernant les œuvres ethnographiques créées par les femmes arméniennes.

 

Sauf cela après avoir collaboré avec de différents musées et des fondations de l’art en tant que chercheuse et assistante de conservateur de musée j’ai réalisé que, premièrement je me suis vraiment plus épanouie et enrichie dans ce domaine, et puis que c’est un sphère pas suffisamment développé en Arménie auquel je désire énormément contribuer.

 

Dans le cadre de mes activités professionnelles j’ai eu la possibilité de participer à l'organisation des expositions au centre de l 'Art Contemporain et Expérimental, de travailler sur la numérisation des catalogues de ce centre.

Par ailleurs, j’ai de l'expérience de guide au musée "Paradjanov", ce qui m’a permis de révéler les subtilités de travail dans un musée, comme la psychologie des visiteurs, les rapports guide-visiteurs, etc.

 

A part cela, actuellement je suis des formations continues ayant des liens étroits avec l’histoire de l’art dont je présente les détails dans mon CV.

 

Les différentes expériences m’ont donné l’envie de partager mes émotions, mes réflexions et mes jugements sur l'histoire de l’art en Arménie que j’ai voulu présenter au public à travers des articles publiés dans différents journaux ou blogs.

 

Cependant, les opportunités d'acquisition des compétences et connaissances au niveau académique de bonne qualité sont limitées en Arménie. Donc, en quête d’un établissement assurant une telle formation j’ai découvert le vôtre qui me paraît le meilleur vu la réputation de cette faculté de votre Université, les cursus que celle-ci propose et les débouchés qu’elle offre.

 

Pour poursuivre mes études de licence et puis de master à sorbonne j'ai besoin de votre soutien. J'ai réuni une partie du montant requis grâce à mes revenus, ma famille et pour le reste je fais appel à vous.

 

Dans la persuasion que la passion, l'enthousiasme, le vrai intérêt ainsi que les grands efforts sont les facteurs garantissant la réussite, j'espère vraiment pouvoir poursuivre cette formation et rentrer dans mon pays enrichie de capacités et des savoirs suffisants afin de m’investir pleinement et contribuer au développement de ce domain dans mon pays.
