Support Tanya through Cancer treatments

Hello,

My name is Cathy Taylor and very proud to say I am Tanya Caruso's mom. As many of you know, Tanya was diagnosed with Triple-negative Breast Cancer (Stage 2) on May 19th. Her treatment Plan involves weekly Chemo followed by surgery and then radiation treatments. It will be a long journey for her but this type of cancer responds well to Chemo so the prognosis is very good.

As you know Tanya has always been a hard worker and an incredible single Mom to Spencer Caruso. She has worked full-time for KACL where she is passionate about the work she does supporting adults with developmental disabilities. In addition to her regular work, she dedicated a lot of time and effort to her various positions in her union as well as the JHSC meeting at work to help make her workplace a better and safer place for all.

In addition to her full-time work, Tanya has also worked various part-time and casual jobs while also finding time to volunteer with Harvest Kenora as well as help her Fiance out at his island whenever possible.

Tanya has had to start Short term disability leave which will more than likely lead to Long Term disability to focus on her treatment and be able to manage the side effects as well as her many medical appointments.

We have been going over her finances to figure out a budget and realize that to offset the cost of her lost wages for the next 7 or 8 months and as well as allow her to continue paying into her work medical plan we figure she needs to raise about $5 000 total to ease the financial constraints over that period.

As many of you are aware, Tanya and Pete are planning on getting married in August. The money for the wedding has already been earmarked & spent before her diagnosis since their wedding had been postponed through the pandemic. As a result, there will be no need to use the funds earned here to cover any costs for the wedding.

If you can help out, even a little towards relieving some of the financial pressure she will be facing so that she can focus on her health, it would be greatly appreciated!

**Update**

tanya would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to help her through the last few months. She continues to undergo Chemo treatments and is responding relatively well to them. Still a long road ahead but not having to worry about finances these past few months has been invaluable.

we have now closed the fundraiser and will no longer be accepting donations. Thank you again so much for all the support and encouragement! it has meant more than words can say!!
