Every child and student-athlete deserves the opportunity to grow, both on the court and beyond. Founded by a retired Connecticut Educator and one of Stamford, Connecticut’s unsung athletic mentors, and a local Fairfield County basketball star. Jamal Dunmore (Westhill HS. Stamford, CT 91’-95’).
S.L.A.A.M. stands for Successful Leaders Academically & Athletically Motivated and is an innovative youth and teen basketball development program and physical education academy designed to unlock the full potential of young people.
In support of Coach Dunmore and our amazing support staff of trusted and well-exemplified leadership, we believe that through structured training, academic support, mental health resources, and community engagement, our participants will become a part of the next generation of leaders, scholars, and champions.
This Summer in 2026, S.L.A.A.M. will introduce the Connecticut Legacy (CT Legacy) Basketball Club and the CT Young Legends Physical Education (K-4th) and Activities Clubs (5th-MS).
CT Legacy and Legends is here to make dreams a reality! We're thrilled to announce the formation of a TRUE elite basketball program, and a physical education and activities program that fulfilleds the wishes of each and every young child in the family from kindergarten to middle school.
Connecticut legends will present a physical education-like atmosphere focusing on social emotional learning, togetherness, and better focus in the classroom through extremely fun games, challenges, and sports team building models during the “off-season” of the school year.
We are the first to do something that combines life and sporting ideas that can fulfill the healthy desires of the entire young household.
Our basketball program is designed for dedicated middle
school and high school boys who are ready to elevate their game and showcase their talent.
Our legends programs are geared towards elementary level students and young teens and hopes of building confidence, better awareness in the classroom setting, and a fun and exciting way of getting in shape overall.
Our Mission & Vision at S.L.A.A.M. is to empower student-athletes with the skills, discipline, and mentorship needed to excel both on the basketball court and in life. We strive to create a supportive environment where they develop self-discipline, leadership, emotional resilience, and a strong sense of community—preparing them for success in sports, academics, and beyond.”

Why We Need Your Support…
As a start-up program, every contribution brings us one step closer to:
*MOST IMPORTANT!..CREATE "FREE" PROGRAMS FOR OUR FUTURE MEMBERS AND PARTICIPANTS...
Also..
1. Secure Training Facilities & Equipment
Gym rentals, basketballs, training gear, and uniforms. This will allow us to provide a safe and fun environment for our athletes to focus, lock in, and surely thrive.
2. Hire & Certify more Coaches, Teachers, and Trainers.
Salaries, coaching certifications, and ongoing mentor training.
We are looking for businesses, nonprofits, and corporations to partner with. While we already have a great group of mentors and leaders, we still want to add to our financial base for a growing environment of new coaches, teachers, and other professionals who may be a potential asset to any of our programs, teams, or events.
3. Academic & Wellness Services
Tutoring resources, college prep materials, and partnerships with licensed counselors.
4. Scholarships & Financial Aid
Ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial barriers.
Our initial fundraising goal of $15,000 will indeed support and push us through our first year of operations and allow us to serve up to 50+ young athletes, providing them with the tools they need to thrive in school, in sports, and in life.
