Dance has been a place of solace when I’ve needed it most, a place to pour all of my emotions into, a place for passion, investigation, risk, courage and growth.
I have dedicated my life to the art of dance, learning the important technique and history of many different styles and mediums that have been passed on for generations.
Without dance, and the people I’ve met through this artform, I would not be the woman I am today. A woman who is strong, independent, empathetic, and incredibly sensitive to the world we live in.
It is my goal to carry on the legacy of dance, through performance as well as teaching, and In order to achieve that, I need to continue my education and experience within the field.
Since graduating with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance, from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, I have been accepted into the JV2 Professional Development Diploma.
A six month certificate program in Kent, England, which explores Jasmin Vardimon’s movement methodology; implementing theatrical skills, voice coaching, body conditioning, analytical and education techniques, music, and the visual arts, to develop as a multidisciplinary performer.
I've received a partial scholarship from the program itself, but I'm still in need of financial assistance to cover the cost of tuition. I've been working as hard as I can to save enough money for housing for when I'm there, as well as applying to local scholarships that I'm eligible for.
I have a $3,242 payment due on February 20th and a final deposit of $3,242 due on June 5th.
I won’t be able to afford this without your help!
An opportunity like this would allow me to continue my pursuit as a professional dancer, so that I can continue to make an impact as an artist and educator.
I could be an example for my current dance students, to never stop pursuing their dreams when they can be achieved with ambition and the support of others.
I’ve had the privilege to study dance, despite coming from a family that could barely afford my early training.
In order to further my studies, I’ve had to rely on scholarships, grants, or loans, apart from my regular income.
If it weren’t for these options, I wouldn’t have been able to attend my last two years of college, The American Dance Festival Pre-Professional Program in 2017, or the Boston Conservatory’s Three Week Summer Dance Intensive in 2018.
I believe that attending JV2 will be similar to those experiences that could’ve been missed because of my financial situation, experiences that immensely impacted my growth as an artist.
In order to give back to my community in the way that I wish, I first need to go on and grow!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Pandora
