Support NEST Seniors for a Graduation Celebration!
Hello, NEST+m Families & Friends!
What a year this has been for all of our K-12 students but this past year has been deeply felt by the 130 students of our Senior Class of 2021. Many of our students have been part of the NEST+m community for the past 13 years since Kindergarten, while those who joined in 9th grade have only had 2 1/2 years of a normal NEST+m high school experience. With the past 1 1/2 years of full remote learning, our students deserve a bit of celebrating before they move on to the next stages of their lives.
High School Graduation and Senior Prom are milestones in any young person’s life. Happily outdoor graduation ceremonies have been approved by the DOE while following all COVID protocols and our 12th graders will have this ceremony in our beautiful NEST+m courtyard on Wednesday, June 23rd. (Details to follow from our school administration via a separate email.)
However, while many outdoor & indoor celebrations (weddings, sweet 16s, bar/bat mitzvahs, etc.) are allowed and approved by our Mayor & Governor, proms are not allowed and therefore cannot be planned through the school or PTA who must follow current DOE regulations. We as parents, along with a student planning committee, would still like to throw a really amazing graduation party (formerly known as “prom”) for our kids, following all COVID protocols. But…we can’t do it without you & your support!
Many NEST+m families cannot afford tickets for a prom and typically get financial aid through the school system. This being a private party means they cannot get financial assistance. They also have not been able to do any fundraising this year which normally offsets the cost of the event.
Our hope is for EVERY SENIOR at NEST+m to be able to celebrate with friends, many of whom they haven’t seen since March 2020, regardless of their financial situation.

COVID requirements for attendance:
1. All attendees must wear masks at all times except while eating or drinking.
2. All attendees must be fully vaccinated showing proof for this event.
If there are extenuating circumstances regarding vaccinations (i.e. had Covid recently & cannot get the vaccine yet, still have antibodies, religious observances, etc.), we will review on a case by case basis.
