Hi, I’m Mary, the founder of Mummy Lue African Foods. I grew up poor and as a refugee, and I know what it feels like to go without food. I’ve also faced abandonment and went days without eating as a pregnant teen mom which forced me to master the skills of cooking. Through it all, cooking has been my passion, my therapy, and my way to share love with others.
I started Mummy Lue African Foods to bring the flavors, culture, and nutrition of West Africa to South Bend. I serve healthy, soulful meals from Ghana, Liberia, and other West African countries, but right now, I don’t have my own kitchen. I rely on shared spaces, which limits how many people I can serve.
With your help, I can secure my own space, serve more people, and create systems to reach those who often get overlooked—low-income families and homeless individuals who want healthy meals but don’t have access to a kitchen. Every meal isn’t just food—it’s hope, strength, and a taste of home.
Your donation, big or small, helps me grow this dream and bring nourishment and culture to the people who need it most. Thank you for helping me make a difference—one plate at a time.
