Support Malinda Through A Leg Amputation

Donation protected
My name is Emilie Meredith and I am starting this Go Fund me page for Malinda Wyler Smith. my best friend’s mom.

Malinda was diagnosed with cancer and beat it, but Chemotherapy and radiation treatments have left her with a number of side effects. This summer, Malinda developed blood clotting in her leg. She then underwent her first of several surgeries to correct this, but unfortunately Malinda has had complications. Approximately 2 weeks ago, she had Femoral Popliteal Bypass Surgery (Fem-Pop), which was a 7 hour surgery. Malinda’s leg then became infected and she had to undergo another surgery last week, after which she was told there was no way to save her leg; she requires an amputation or the infection will spread and kill her.

Malinda has been a hard worker all her life. She has always worked in an occupation where she stands on her feet. She put herself through nursing school late in life and now is a RN. The last couple of years have been hard on Malinda and her husband, Rob, both medically and financially, but this year has been the hardest.

Malinda has not been able to work since July. Just before all of this happened, Malinda changed jobs so she did not yet have benefits with her new employer. Now that she requires major, life changing surgery that will take months of recovery, Malinda will be unable to return to work anytime soon.

Malinda has great support from her family and friends, but the stress is becoming overwhelming. Malinda will need ramps and modifications to her home, as well as help with bills. I am asking for anyone and everyone who can spare anything at all to please help support Malinda through this heartbreaking and difficult time.

Malinda has spent her entire life helping and caring for others. She is proud, strong and brave. She would never ask for help, so I am… I am asking you to please help someone who currently needs help and is going through one of the toughest things in their life. This is a time when the sense of community and compassion join together. If you can’t give a dollar amount perhaps you could contact her daughters to coordinate a food train, help with resources on what it will entail to get the house ready or build a ramp. I know these are tough times for all of us any help would be appreciated. Please keep Malinda and her family in your prayers. The power of prayer is awesome!
