I’m Mohamed Elhennawy, a Capital Emmy Award–winning filmmaker. This story is more than a film — it’s a tribute to my father, whose sacrifices made my dream possible.

Last Call is a short drama inspired by a true story — one about sacrifice, identity, and the cost of chasing a dream.

It follows an Egyptian immigrant who comes to America in the 1990s with nothing but hope and determination. Living in the projects, working any job he can find, he’s slowly building a new beginning when everything changes — his father back home is diagnosed with stage-four leukemia.

In that moment, the dream he’s been chasing collides with the fear of losing the man who made it possible. He’s torn between two worlds: the future he’s fighting for and the family he left behind.

Last Call isn’t just about one family — it’s about every parent who sacrificed everything for their children, and every son or daughter who’s had to choose between going home or moving forward.

This story matters because it’s real. It’s about people who left everything behind to start over — people who built new lives quietly, often without recognition. It’s a reminder that behind every dream is a human being, someone who risked it all for the hope of a better tomorrow.

But it’s also about how these stories are told — and who gets to tell them. Too often, when Muslims or Arabs show up on screen, we see the same narrow image: the terrorist, the bomber, the threat. We rarely see the Muslim parents working long hours to provide for their kids, the doctors, entrepreneurs, and artists trying to make something of themselves while raising families with love and faith.

Last Call is my chance to change that narrative. It’s a film that shows Muslim life as it really is — full of love, struggle, humor, and humanity. The kind of story that exists in millions of homes but almost never makes it to screen.

When you support this film, you’re not just helping make a movie — you’re helping independent filmmakers bring truth to light. You’re helping share a story that humanizes and connects us, beyond headlines and stereotypes.

Every contribution helps us shoot on real New York locations, work with immigrant and first-generation artists, and tell this story with the honesty and care it deserves.

Supporting Last Call means saying yes to authentic stories — stories that remind the world who we really are. Not through fear, but through humanity.
