Support Dan and Kate with Emergency Expenses
Donation protected
On the morning of November 13th, our friends Kate and Dan experienced a medical emergency many don't expect to experience in their 30s. Dan's family had traveled out of town to visit longtime friends for his birthday. While sleeping, Dan experienced sudden cardiac arrest, depriving his brain of oxygen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, placed in the Cardiac ICU and put into a coma to give his brain the best chance to heal. For weeks, his family and friends waited for signs of recovery. No one ever plans medical emergencies but having it take place while out of town has been an extra challenge. Transferring Dan back to a Seattle area hospital wasn't possible either; beds for his type of care weren't available.
Fast forward to December 7th, and Dan's prognosis has improved. He is out of the ICU but still hospitalized. He is in neurologic physical therapy, working to regain lost functions and is looking to move to an inpatient rehabilitation unit when he's healthy enough. He is still in a facility 3 hours from his home.
Your donations will go towards helping Dan's immediate and extended family pay for operational costs as they've traveled to be with Dan during his hospital stay.
