Hi! My name is Marilyn, and I'm fundraising for my dear friend, Jacqueline, who has spent her entire life giving to others. Now, I am asking you to join me in giving back to her.
Jacqueline is a former dancer who has been teaching, coaching, and mentoring dancers for the past 23 years. Jacquie's students, friends, and family have witnessed the enduring love of dance flowing from her to all those she touches. Jacquie has the rare gift of drawing out the best in those she teaches and mentors. Her passion is contagious, and her commitment to each of her students is undeniable.
The wear and tear of being a professional dancer and instructor has taken its toll on Jacquie's body. She has been managing arthritis since 2007. But over the past year, teaching became increasingly difficult. On some evenings, Jacquie arrived home unable to walk. Her pain had progressed from intermittent and low-level to so acute she rarely slept through the night. After exhausting all other options, Jacquie had her left hip replaced on March 18th, and will have the right hip replaced later this year. The struggles of managing one major surgery in a year are overwhelming, let alone two!
I started this fundraiser to help Jacquie cover medical costs (known and unforeseen), rehabilitation, and time off work, as she will be on unpaid leave for 6-8 weeks for each surgery.
Everyone who loves Jacquie is hopeful that these surgeries will allow her to return to the dance studio to do what she does best, creating a beautiful and safe space for evolving young dancers to flourish, while fulfilling her passion.
With our support, Jacquie can return to the most joyful version of herself dancing and inspiring others for years to come. Any and all contributions are helpful. If you are able to share this campaign, we would be incredibly grateful.
While recovering, updates and information that Jacquie believes would be helpful to other teachers, dancers, athletes, and people undergoing hip replacement, will be posted.
