About George Obeng-Duro.
Director of Photography | Director | Producer
George Obeng-Duro, a US Navy Veteran and filmmaker, is currently pursuing a degree in cinematography at the Los Angeles Film School. His passion for storytelling began in his childhood, captivated by the tales of "Anase," a mischievous prankster god from his native Ghana. This fascination grew as he traveled across five of the seven continents, immersing himself in diverse cultures and experiences. Through photography, George developed a profound appreciation for the stories of people, places, and the cultures that shape them. His storytelling is deeply influenced by his travels and encounters, with a visual aesthetic that blends ethnic storytelling with naturalism.
*This thesis project represents the culmination of everything I have learned throughout my education. I am thrilled to bring to life a story that resonates deeply, moves hearts, and leaves a lasting impact.*
Winnie La Pooh is a comedic, drama, exploitation narrative that occurs in Los Angeles during the 1970s. Trying to make ends meet to take care of her daughter, Winnie La Pooh works the streets of Hundred Acres under the iron grasp of her pimp Hollywood. Desperate to pay a debt to her ruthless boss, Winnie seeks the help of longtime friend, Tara, who gives her a special gift that could ultimately grant her wish of escaping the nightlife with her daughter for good. Winnie La Pooh represents an everyday person not aware of their inner strength going through life, aimlessly. With odds stacked Winnie must find a way to protect everything she loves and herself before it is too late. This story encompasses sacrifice, love, and self discovery with hopes of creating more dialogue and awareness on hardships vulnerable communities face and struggle to overcome. Driven by strongly developed diverse characters with something each to prove, this story will entertain and shift audiences in a thought-provoking way, ultimately reminding viewers of their own inner strength and voice to overcome challenging obstacles in life.

Learn more about the Writer and the story origin:
Following a versatile life from child outcast to ex-preacher man to Navy Veteran to political zealot to film school graduate, Lucifer L’Amour has been an artist in every existence, aspiring as a cartoonist before evolving into a passionate actor with a mastery in vivid and bold screenplay storytelling. A natural-born writer and self-taught and formerly educated screenwriter, L’Amour declares himself a spawn of such bold minds as Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone, Spike Lee, and Martin Scorsese, and a pioneer of new-aged classic gangster noir, elevated horror, exploitation, action comedy, dark comedy, dark fantasy, and genre undefined.
From the *GLORIOUS ONE* himself on Winnie La Pooh:
“One day, I saw the advertising for a horror movie, based on Winnie the Pooh characters, and discussions how a certain great mind had the audacity to take a newly established public domain of beloved literature characters, and turn them into vicious, homicidal maniacs... for about 20K. I thought that was absolutely brilliant. What was first brainstormed as a comedy evolved into a much darker and disturbing story of human struggle with love, money, sexuality, and... magic, featuring Winnie the Pooh-inspired character models. My financial and emotional distress during this time of creation, feeling pimped by life’s troubles, birthed the Superfly (and post-locked script, The Mack, which supernaturally shared my story’s concept/line of “believe”)-inspired modernized, supernatural blaxploitation, WINNIE LA POOH. Listen to Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Make Me Believe in You,’ and be swept into the world of Winnie La Pooh &... Friends(?). I don’t write movies. I wield worlds from the womb of my soul. How about you?”
