Support for For Vet Bills for Marigold and Sadie

Hey! I'm Raven and would like to invite you to read, share and support Marigold, Sadie and their person, Rebecca.

Let me share a story:

Marigold is a gorgeous geriatric, 50 pound Great Pyrenees mix rescue who lives with my dear friend Rebecca and her aging cat, Sadie.

Together they make up a family of folks who have saved each other in some difficult situations. Marigold in particular has become an important dog and a hero in a unique living situation.

My friend Rebecca—one of the most wonderful people in my life—has a number of severe chronic illnesses that are extremely life-limiting. She is rarely able to leave the house, and spends most of her time bedbound, with Marigold and Sadie as constant companions. They provide vital company, affection and support to Rebecca.

Marigold has been instrumental in helping Rebecca build an amazing support team of volunteers who come twice a day to tend Sadie and take Marigold for walks and adventures - you can follow Marigold on instagram (adventureswithmarigold).

Marigold’s walkers include a wide range of ages - high schoolers to retired folk who show up in all weather. Their visits give Rebecca a window into the outside world, as well as some much needed company and connection. Rebecca is unable to work, and thus is on a fixed income like so many other folks in similar situations. The increasing burden of both Marigold and Sadie's needs at a time when all costs are rising is financially challenging and massively impacts Rebecca, causing stress and anxiety. Rebecca has set aside some of her own medical needs, put off household needs, and charged expenses to credit cards to try to make ends meet. Sadie has recently been diagnosed with kidney, heart, and blood pressure problems, requiring special care and vet trips.

Marigold was an anxious rescue, found on a construction site after a tornado, who came to live with Rebecca when she was 4 years old. She didn't trust anyone and hid growling in the closet when there were visitors. She is now 13, sweet as can be, with caring friends, beloved in her community, and navigating her own health issues - including arthritis and dementia. Due to Marigold's dementia, she often wakes up barking in the wee hours of the morning and has accidents in the house, making it very difficult for Rebecca to recruit a new roommate (she's been without a roommate for 11 months now).

Marigold is a very happy dog, and has plenty of important things to do (and say), and to enable Marigold to do so, we need to raise some money to help pay her bills which include drugs, supplements and the supplemental high protein food she needs to keep her weight up.

Sadie is really struggling, and testing is ongoing to see how she can best be supported. She was doing quite well until recently, so the sudden change has left the household reeling a bit.

Rebecca's a pro at complex health management, but the constant changes to dietary, prescription, supplement and accommodation needs for Sadie and Marigold, in addition to her own intensive needs, are overwhelming. And it's pushing her body more than is sustainable.

Raising this money would give Rebecca, Marigold and Sadie breathing space and help support Marigold through the final phase of her life, allowing her to continue to be a happy elderly lifesaving dog. And will ease the considerable pain of this transition and the life changes it will bring for everyone.

In addition to volunteer helpers, they are blessed with accessible, devoted veterinary care and a benefactor who is covering the basic costs of commercial dog food, treats, poop bags, cat litter, etc.
