Emir's Long Road to Recovery
THE BACKSTORY
There is a pretty good chance that if you’ve ever had a good time in Philadelphia, Cape May or Sea Isle that Emir Santos was involved in some way, shape, or form. He’s always been the organizer and life of the party, making sure that everyone around him was having the best time possible. But now he needs our help.
Just after the holidays, Emir was diagnosed with a failing liver and unfortunately has been dealing with the fallout ever since. Over the past two months, there has been multiple emergency room visits, medical procedures, and overnight stays. Due to his failing liver, Emir has developed ascites & edema (a buildup of fluid throughout your body) which has all but immobilized him and does not allow him to work. Fortunately, Emir is on a transplant donor list and is awaiting a match for a liver transplant.
This somber diagnosis could not have come at a worse time, as he and Tish have just settled on their forever home in Cape May.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
This GoFundMe has been set up by a group of his friends & family. We're calling on everyone to be there for the ‘Big Dawg’ now because he surely would be there for any of us. Although this has already taken a devastating toll on Emir and Tish over the past two months, it is a long road to recovery. Even in the best case scenario, it will take at least another six months to a year for Emir to recover. Therefore, every dollar counts towards giving our friend some financial peace of mind while he fights for his life.
We are looking to raise funds to help with the following expenses:
- Living expenses they will incur until Emir is back on his feet and regularly working
- The high cost of medical care (above and beyond the little insurance will cover)
- Regular, reoccurring copayments
- Outpatient follow-up care
- Emergency hospital visits for related unforeseen issues
Every little bit helps and we all will be forever grateful and indebted to those who contribute anything whatsoever. Please share this link on any and all social media formats to help get the word out.
Thank you!
