Christiane Holden has recently been diagnosed with acute liver failure. During the past three weeks, her life and the lives of those around her have changed completely. She was hospitalized in Austin and later transferred to a transplant facility in Houston. Christiane is now awaiting a liver transplant and is facing a long recovery.

In spite of having health insurance, the costs for treatment will be huge. Christiane will be unable to return to work for an indefinite time. She and Victor, her husband, will need to relocate to Houston so that she can receive ongoing care after her transplant. All of this is placing an incredible financial burden on the couple.
