Support Caribbean: Hurricane Melissa Disaster Relief Fund

The Atlanta Caribbean Lions Charities (ACLC) is a U.S. IRS registered 501(c)(3) social welfare non-profit organization. We are a community-based organization that supports global needs (hunger, vision care, diabetes programs, childhood cancer, youth programs, humanitarian needs, environment and disaster relief) in the USA and the Caribbean. Many of our members (Lions) are from Jamaica and the Bahamas, with families in the affected areas. We are working directly with a verifiable nonprofit organization, Lions International Caribbean Multiple District (MD) 60.

Lions International Global Outreach:
Lions International is a global humanitarian organization. We are in over 200 countries, with 1.4 million members worldwide and 275 million people served annually. Please visit www.lionsclubs.org.

Hurricane Melissa has left several Caribbean Islands without food, shelter and essential services. ACLC is in direct contact with Caribbean MD 60 Lions on the ground in the disaster areas. Jamaica was the hardest hit of the countries by this category 5 hurricane.

Please consider making a monetary donation to help support the work Lions are doing on the ground during this devastating time. They have mobilized teams and are actively going into the decimated areas to volunteer and to drop off needed supplies.

We appreciate your prayers and support for the people of the affected Caribbean region.

Your donations will help fund vital programs that create lasting change and support the rebuilding of the Caribbean.
Here are a few ways your contributions can make a difference:
  • Purchasing tents and cots
  • Buying food and essential supplies
  • Providing medical supplies
  • Purchasing water filters
  • Educational supplies for students
Every dollar count, and your generosity can help us continue this important work. I invite you to join us in helping the people of the Caribbean rebuild their lives and their communities. All funds will be used for Hurricane Melissa Caribbean affected region. We will give periodic updates here on the hurricane relief efforts.

Update:
Dr. Williams spent 2 weeks in Jamaica working with MD 60 Lions in Trelawny and also working in Westmoreland and St. Elizabeth.

In Trelawny, the Lions held a health fair at a local church in Duncans. They assisted over 300 people with diabetes screenings, blood glucose screenings, physician care, blood pressure screenings, reading glasses, food and care packages. The Lions also distributed food, school supplies and care packages at a local school in the Hampden community.
Dr. Williams visited schools in Westmoreland and St. Elizabeth and spoke at a regional principal education meeting during her visit. Many of the schools were flooded, lost electricity and have no running water. Dr. Williams' team will be working with the schools to replace library books, supply staff /office needs and offer mental health and social emotional learning programs.

The Atlanta Caribbean Lions Charities is a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit social welfare organization (EIN# 993460625). Donations to this fund are tax-deductible.

Thank you for your donation.
