Honoring the Life of Brad Jensen
Bradley Richard Jensen- son, brother, husband, friend- passed away on February 1, 2024 at the age of 39 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Brad was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at the young age of 5 and suffered a recurrence at age 13. Following treatment of the recurrence, he thankfully went into remission and enjoyed many years of good health.
Unfortunately, in July of 2022, Brad was diagnosed with aggressive Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. While the term “aggressive” was unsettling to hear, Brad’s doctors reassured him and his wife Gabby that aggressive cancers respond well to aggressive treatments. So began Brad’s third battle with cancer. He went through rounds of biopsies, tests, chemotherapy, radiation, CAR-T transplants, and stem cell transplants which left his immune system comprised and susceptible to infections.
While being treated for cancer, a time when you need your parents most, Brad lost his mother Sharon in August of 2022, just two-and-a-half years after losing his father Richard. In their absence, Gabby devoted herself to caring for her husband and supporting him in every way necessary. And for that, Brad was often heard praising Gabby to anyone who would listen.
Brad only shared his diagnosis with a select few, preferring to battle his cancer privately. But with his passing, I felt the need to share Brad’s story- as a testament to my friend who was taken from us much too soon.
Brad fought long and hard against terrible odds because he was a fighter. He fought for himself and he fought for his wife and the future they envisioned together. He suffered pain and setbacks during treatment but incredibly, managed to remain positive despite challenges. Brad did not let cancer rob him of his smile, which if you knew Brad, that smile of his was big and contagious.
Brad passed away with Gabby and two close friends at his side, surrounded by love. And while it is devastating to have lost him, I take solace in knowing Brad’s suffering has ended.
Unimaginably, Gabby lost her job during the course of Brad’s cancer treatment. As his sole caregiver, she was unable to find new employment that would allow her to remain by Brad’s side during his numerous and lengthy hospital stays. Gabby is now faced with substantial medical debt and other expenses while she tries to navigate a world without her husband. Please consider contributing financially to assist Gabby during this extremely difficult time. Your prayers and support are much appreciated.
