Support Bianca's Recovery

My mom has always been a fighter ever since I can remember. She had me at 17 and raising me as a single mom for most my life was never easy. She worked endlessly to always put food on our table and never failed to get me what I needed even if it meant working doubles or triple shifts. My mom is a DJ, Old school Hip-hop/R&B lover, fitness junkie, and enjoys sewing her own wardrobe. She's one of the funniest characters I know. She's never asked for help and this time, she finally has.

This year has been tough for many of us. Amidst a global pandemic and other atrocities taking place during this uncertain time in the world, it's important for us to support each other within our communities and families. 

Amongst all the chaos, an unforeseen hardship struck my family this summer. My mother recently tested positive for cancer. Although we are catching this early, my mother lost both of her parents due to cancer of the colon and brain. Because of this, she inherited Lynch Syndrome also known as as hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), a type of inherited cancer syndrome associated with a genetic predisposition to different cancer types. This means people with Lynch syndrome have a higher risk of certain types of cancer. This might also mean that I could have it too. 

Even if we catch this early, there's still a high chance of its return. The financial demands for surgery, medicine, and resources for her recovery will be costly for not only my mother, but my family and I.  Because of her temporary absence at work , realistically she cannot afford to keep her new apartment she was so happy to have earned with her well paying job. 

As her daughter, this has caused a lot of emotional and mental distress beyond comprehension. I never thought this could happen, especially to my mom at such a young age. We can't do anything alone without the help of others, so I am asking for a hand. I am so grateful for the abundance of love and support during this time. Please give what feels right and keep us in your prayers.
