Alma's journey; it started with a Heart Attack Nov17th 2023
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I'm Alma Blackburn, and I'm here with a mix of gratitude, fear and a humble request for help. On November 17th, 2023, I had a SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) heart attack. SCAD is a rare condition where a tear forms in a coronary artery, leading to a heart attack. It wasn’t caused by anything fun like overindulging in chocolate cake or avoiding the gym. Nope, my heart just wanted to add a little drama to my life!
But seriously,
I’m facing the very real fear of losing my home, the one place where I feel safe and can focus on healing. The thought of having to recover in an uncertain environment is terrifying. The stress of potential homelessness is overwhelming and could easily trigger another heart attack. The last thing I need is more drama from my heart!
I've reached out to many resources in my town that claim to help prevent homelessness, including every major church, but I've not qualified for various reasons, mostly because I'm not part of their particular community. It's incredibly demoralizing to seek help and be turned away when you need it most.
I am humbly asking for your help to cover my overdue rent and keep a roof over my head. This stability is crucial for my recovery and peace of mind. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a world of difference. If you can’t donate, sharing my story with others would mean so much to me.
Thanks to the incredible support from my medical team, family, and friends, I have successfully completed cardiac rehab—woohoo! But now, I need a little more help. Any donations will go towards catching up on my rent which includes late payments, and if there's anything left over, it will help me get a CT scan to rule out possible artery dissections elsewhere in my body.
I will do my best to keep working hard to get ahead and keeping updates on this page current. I look forward to sharing my experience with you for educational purposes and how it's affected me personally.
Thank you from the bottom of my (achy breaky) heart for your kindness and generosity.
With gratitude,
Alma Blackburn
