Support Addis University to go to the Pictet Competition

Thanks to your generosity and the support of a kind institutional donor, our team’s participation in the Jean-Pictet Competition is now fully funded. Plus, we all have received our visas to Türkiye. Your contributions have directly helped us turn a dream into reality, and we could not be more grateful.

We, Beamlaksera Fasil, Elias Zeleke, and Sina Yigzaw, dedicated law students from Addis Ababa University (AAU) Ethiopia, are thrilled and honored to represent our institution at the 45th edition of the Jean-Pictet Competition, from 8 to 15 February 2025, in Antalya, Turkiye.

Since 1989, this prestigious Competition on international humanitarian law aims at “taking the law out of the books” by allowing students to play different roles (humanitarians, military, legal advisors, etc.) in practical scenarios. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to learn, grow, meet with other students from all around the world and showcase Ethiopia’s voice. Ultimately, participating in this Competition will allow us to become better legal professionals and humanitarians, including in our country.

We are kindly reaching out for your support to make this dream a reality. To cover our costs of participation, we are seeking a total of CHF 4245 (EUR 4565). This includes approximately: CHF 700 (EUR 750) for the registration fees, CHF 2230 (EUR 2400) for the plane tickets, CHF 560 (EUR 600) for the visas, CHF 280 (EUR 300) for medical insurance, CHF 90 (EUR 100) for local transportation, and 10% (CHF 385 or EUR 415) to cover potential cost increases. In parallel to this crowdfunding page, we are looking for institutional support.
