Was getting ready to return to get her bachelor’s degree when her life was turned upside down. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, the official diagnosis of Abby's illness, was finally confirmed on May 8th, after she began to feel unwell in April.
I’m reaching out to you with a heavy heart and plea for continuous prayers and support for our beloved Abby. And ... Together, let's make sure her family is taken care of while she faces one of the hardest difficulties of her life. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will make a significant difference in helping alleviate the financial strain, so that she and her husband can focus on what truly matters- her recovery journey! Her medical bills have been mounting even with health insurance because she has be hospitalized frequently for chemotherapy treatment. In the upcoming months, a bone marrow transplant is also scheduled.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

Abby went into remission on October 18, 2024, but sadly, it lasted for just a few weeks. The cancer came back.
Following several hospital stays in San Antonio, on December 18th, we sent her to MD Anderson, where she is receiving treatment. Because of the problems from sepsis that started in September 2024, she will need to have her right leg amputated on January 28.

January Update*
Praise and Gratitude:
Abby's latest bone marrow biopsy showed no cancer cells—a huge victory!
She successfully completed her 28-day chemotherapy trial, which went really well.
Abby might get a short break from the hospital on Thursday, after a 32-day stay, which will be a well-deserved rest before surgery.
Upcoming critical dates:
Amputation surgery is rescheduled for January 28th. (Instead of 21st) Trusting in God's timing for this important surgery.
Waiting for insurance approval for her bone marrow transplant, which is crucial while her counts are in a good place.
Prayer Requests:
For insurance approvals to come through quickly and without complications.
For Abby to gain strength and her platelets stabilize to minimize transfusions so she can prepare for surgery and enjoy her time outside the hospital for a few days.
May the surgery on the 28th go smoothly, with God guiding the surgeons' hands, and may the amputation be minimal. Abby find peace, understanding, and the mental strength she needs to heal and move forward.
May the cancer stay out of Abby's body completely, granting her freedom from this illness. May the transplant be a source of true healing, restoring her health and bringing her renewed strength and vitality.
Continued faith and strength for Abby and her Husband during this uncertain yet hopeful time.
Your unwavering faith and prayers is much needed more than ever. .. Continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers for her complete healing and successful outcomes in everything that is coming in the next few weeks.

*New Update 2/6*
Abby underwent an extensive eight-hour surgery on Wednesday, February 5th at MD Anderson in Houston. The procedure was tough, but the surgeons successfully accomplished everything necessary. Unfortunately, they had to amputate her right leg below the knee and the toes on her left foot. Despite this, the surgery went well, and Abby is now in the hospital, focusing on her recovery. The next steps for Abby are to fully heal from her amputation and then resume chemotherapy in preparation for her bone marrow transplant.
