Summit Prep Memorial Structure

Dear Friend,
My name is Trevor Kelly and I writing to ask for your support for a very special project at my High School, Summit Preparatory Charter High School, Redwood City CA. I have obtained permission from school management to design and build a small structure on school property to benefit all of the students with a shaded place to relax at lunch or outside of school hours.
This structure will serve as a Memorial to my former classmate Ruben Velazquez who tragically lost his life as passenger in a car accident over the 2015 holiday break. He is greatly missed by his family and entire Summit community.
Several local business have committed to donating building materials, equipment rentals and supplies however I am asking for your help to cover the shortfall of the expenses incurred (materials @ cost from specialist suppliers and some hardware/finish chemicals). I expect I will need approx. $1,500 to complete the project. Any surplus funds will be donated to the Velazquez family in Ruben’s Memory.
Please see attached a CAD drawing of the Pergola structure which will be built with high grade redwood lumber and earthquake resistant hardware. My design and the construction phase will be supervised by a licensed State of California Contractor. Several of my student colleagues will assist me in the construction.
